SUMMARY

The main focuses of the Business Development Manager role are mainly pre-bid including, but not limited to, prospecting customers and projects, identifying and developing new markets, coordinating marketing efforts, managing leads and bid requests, managing bid documents and drawings, customer management efforts, creating customer management reports, working with estimating to produce sales and estimating reports, some closing of sales, and other sales related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and coordinate business development, prospecting, marketing, and sales activities (“bus. dev. activities”) to promote products and services, working with contractors, owners, developers, architects, designers, and other construction industry stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing a clear position / value proposition for Giffin by working with executive leadership, senior staff, internal and external stakeholders, and other entities as needed.
  • Work closely with Estimating Manager and estimating team in the management of customer & bid requests, estimate development, samples & mockups, value engineering, and any other method to help ensure an award.
  • Actively pursue and attend to customers during the bidding and estimating process and up until project award or decline. Obtain customer, owner, project, and competitor information.
  • Develop a landscape / map of all current opportunities and assist estimating to decide in which opportunities to pursue
  • Identify prospective geographic markets and new customers in current markets by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
  • Coordinate and participate in promotional activities or trade shows, working with contractors, developers, architects, designers, and other subcontractors, to market company capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other subcontractors to exchange information, such as selling strategies, leads, and other marketing information.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop relationships with other subcontractors to support our growth through buyouts. This could include woodworking companies, metals, stone, glass, etc.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop relationships with MBE / WBE / UBE / DEI enterprises to support our growth and meet customer requirements
  • Identify, develop, or evaluate sales and marketing strategy, based on knowledge of establishment objectives, market characteristics, and pricing factors.
  • Maintain all business development and sales activity in Company’s CRM software, INNERGY,  including customer demographics, preferences, key contacts, etc.
  • Plan and develop new Company procedures processes for business development and sales management, and research new potential technologies and methods.
  • Measure and coordinate customer service satisfaction strategies utilizing market research, direct surveys, and other methods. Align company operations with market requirements.
  • Coordinate / manage all marketing activities including, but not limited to, company website, social media accounts, marketing literature, project photographs, press releases, newsletter, and other marketing material.
  • Develop and maintain sales data/measurements to measure the effectiveness of all bus. dev. activities and prepare management reports on results.
  • Gather competitor data & analyze their prices, sales, capabilities, method of sales & marketing.
  • Monitor industry statistics and follow trends in industry and trade literature.
  • And other duties / responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the company
